Valencia CF to face Arsenal in Europa League semifinals
Valencia CF's UEFA Europa League semifinal opponents will be English side Arsenal FC, who bested Napoli 3-0 on aggregate in their quarterfinal tie.
The first leg of the European encounter will take place at the Emirates Stadium in London, on May 2nd, whilst the second will be held at Mestalla on May 9th.
It is the club's first semifinal in the competition since 2013/14, when they were eliminated by a late goal by Sevilla FC. Curiously, the Andalusian team were coached at that time by Unai Emery, who is the current Arsenal coach and a former boss at Valencia CF.
Arsenal and VCF have crossed paths five times in official competition: Four times in the UEFA Champions League, and once in the 1980 European Cup Winners Cup. Valencia CF have won twice, drawn twice and lost once.
The other semifinal features Eintracht Frankfurt against Chelsea FC.
